OBITUARY ~ DALE EDWARD ARNOLD
October 21, 1928 ~ March 06, 2018

Dale Edward Arnold, age 89, of Grand River, Iowa, the son of Forest Lee and Hazel Manila (Audelhelm) Arnold, was born October 21, 1928, in Clarke County, Iowa. He died at the Clearview Home in Mount Ayr, Iowa on Tuesday, March 6, 2018.

Dale grew up in Iowa’s Clarke and Decatur Counties. After school, he joined the United States Air Force and served during the Korean Conflict. Upon his honorable discharge, he served in the Air Force Reserves while farming north of Grand River, Iowa. On April 30, 1951, Dale and Alice Mae Boles were united in marriage. They were blessed with two sons, Gary Lee and Randall Dale. In 1955, they moved to a farm near Lamoni, Iowa and stayed until 1970. They moved to the Van Wert, Iowa area before buying their current farm home closer to Grand River. Alice passed away on April 26, 2015.

In their free time, Dale and Alice loved to go dancing. They also attended many music shows over the years. Dale was creative to repurpose old machinery parts to build new items for his farm. He also overhauled his pickup and several cars. He enjoyed working on these projects and it saved him money. At one time, he had a hundred cattle and calves and had every one named and could pet most of them.

Preceding him in death were his parents; wife, Alice; great granddaughter, Lexy; and sister and brother-in-law, Ruby and Roscoe, SR Ries. Survivors include his sons, Gary Arnold and Randy Arnold, both of Grand River; grandchildren, Kara Arnold, Meghin and David Blythe, and Dale R. Arnold; great grandchildren, Gavin and Jayce; sister, Shirley Tripp of Phoenix, Arizona; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at the Slade – O’Donnell Funeral Home in Leon, Iowa at 10 a.m. Monday, March 26, 2018. Burial will be in the Grand River Cemetery, Grand River, Iowa.

A memorial fund has been established by the Family.
