MRS. NELLIE G. MAGGARD, Mt. Ayr Record News
Mrs. Nellie G. Maggard daughter of Solomon and Amanda Bear, was born October 13, 1879, and departed this life September 8, 1972, at the age of 92 years, 11 months and two days.
On May 28, 1896, she was united in marriage with Lance {Alanson Enoch} Maggard and of this union were born six children - Norval, Roy, Lula (Mrs. Truman Baker), Mary (Mrs. Roy Millard), Clifford and Loren.
Her husband preceded her in death on January 17, 1943 and sons Norval in 1936, and Roy in 1968.
Following the death of her husband Mrs. Maggard made her home with her son, Roy, until eight years ago, when she fell and broke her hip. Since that time, she has resided in the Clearview Home in Mount Ayr. She as a member of the High Point Methodist Church.
She is survived by four children; two daughters-in-law, Doris and Vera Maggard; ten grandchildren; a sister Agnes Giles, of California and a host of relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held September 10, from the Kellerton United Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. Sheridan Mallot. Music was provided by Esther Manning and Jack Hughes, who sang "How Great Thou Art" and "When the Roll is Called up Yonder." Casketbearers were Dr. Wm. Chaney, Harold Harvey, Paul Wion, Lynn Buell, Porter Havely and Donald Sevier. She was laid to rest in the Maple Row Cemetery in Kellerton.
