Thursday, December 2, 1931OBITUARY ~ ELIZA TURNER (CARTER) OGLE
Eliza Turner CARTER, fourth daughter of J[ohn]. D. and Priscilla CARTER was born near Maloy Feb. 5, 1856, and died at her home in Blockton, November 27, 1931, at the age of 75 years, 9 months and 22 days.
She was married on April 19, 1873, to L[aurence]. L. OGLE, who preceded her in death March 30, 1900. To this union ten children were born. She is survived by three sons and three daughters — Mrs. W. W. [Maude] W. POORE, of Mount Ayr; Mrs. Mary Katherine DRAKE, of Blockton; Mrs. J. W. [Phoebe Priscilla] BOWMAN [Phoebe Priscilla], of Long Beach, California; Earl [Raymond], at home; Guy [Clifford] OGLE, of Blockton, and Clay [Bement] OGLE, of Hyannas, Nebraska. Also two brothers, Day CARTER, of Tingley Iowa, and J[ohn]. T. CARTER, of Stockton, California. Four sons preceded her in death.
As a mother her life of sacrifice has seldom been equaled and never excelled. In the community in which she has lived she has been a real "Dorcas" as she was never too busy to help others in need. In the passing of this life her home and community will feel the loss of a real friend.
She united with the Methodist church in her youth and was always faithful to its teaching.
Funeral services were held at the Blockton Methodist church Sunday morning at 10:30, conducted by Rev. W. H. WARRIOR. Interment in the Mount Ayr [Rose Hill] cemetery.
