Funeral services for Earl Raymond OGLE were held September 20 at the Blockton United Methodist Church conducted by Pastor Milt HENDERSON. Mr. OGLE died September 18. Graveside rites were by the American Legionnaires of Blockton. Interment was in the Blockton Rose Hill Cemetery.
Earl Raymond OGLE was born near Maloy, Iowa on April 26, 1893. His parents were Laurence and Eliza Turner CARTER OGLE. He was one of 10 children.
He attended the Hillside School. His father died when Earl was seven years old and he and his brothers helped their mother carry on the farm work.
Earl was inducted into the army in 1918 and was discharged in 1919 after serving in France. After his discharge from the army, he returned to Blockton and worked in the creamery and did farm labor.
He was a member of the Blockton United Methodist Church.
He spent most of the rest of his life in and around Blockton except for a short time spent in California where he worked in a foundry.
Upon returning to Blockton, he made his home with Guy and Mona OGLE and worked as a painter, construction worker and a carpenter. He spent his spare time fishing and enjoying the outdoors. In 1978, he entered Clearview Home in Mount Ayr where he made his home until his death.
He is survived by a brother, Clay [Bement] OGLE, of Alvin, Tex. and many nieces and nephews and cousins. He will be missed by his many friends.
