Chas. Ruthenberg Sr., of Muscatine, father of Chas. Ruthenberg Jr., a former Wapello resident, passed away at the home of his son Chris, in that city last Wednesday night. His death was due to ills attendant upon old age and followed an illness of a month's duration. Mr. Ruthenberg was widely known in Muscatine in its earlier days, coming there in 1873, where he has resided since that time. Charles Ruthenberg was born in Providence, Germany, February 16, 1831 and resided there until 42 years of age when he came to Muscatine. He was united in marriage with Miss Minnie Luchterland in 1855 who preceded him in death six and one half years ago. Mr. Ruthenberg is survived by one brother Chris. Ruthenberg of North Dakota and eight children- Chas. Ruthenberg, William Ruthenberg, Chris. Ruthenberg, Louis Ruthenberg, Mrs. Henry Dealing, Mrs. Leonard Bronner, Mrs. Phillip Stein and Mrs. Herman Steinfurt.
