Last rites for Lyle E. Barkalow, 62, were held at the Lacock Funeral Home, Wilton Dec. 15 with the Rev. Paul Pennington officiating. Burial was in Oakdale cemetery.

Mr. Barkalow died at Mercy hospital, Iowa City, Dec. 12.

The son of Glen and Hazel Van Duesen Barkalow, he was born at Atalissa Dec. 16, 1926. He married Geraldine Phelps at Tipton Oct. 16, 1945.

He was a truck driver with the W. R. Grace Line and distributed Walnut Grove products from the West Liberty plant for 27 years. He retired in November, 1987.

He is survived by his wife, 5 daughters, Mrs. Bill (Paulette) Salyars, Wilton; Mrs. Willard (Frances) Ganut and Mrs. John (Judi) Nicol, Atalissa; Lila Buffalo, Blue Grass and Patti Bruns, Davenport; 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
