John Fowler, a resident of Muscatine and long a resident of Louisa county, passed away at his home last Wednesday night shortly after midnight, after an extended illness of over two years. Complications are given as the cause of his demise. Mr. Fowler was a well known farmer and was born in Cedar county, October 25, 1846, being 69 years of age at the time of his death. He moved to Louisa county with his parents when a small boy and remained there until about 13 years ago, when he moved to Muscatine, which has been his home ever since.

He was associated fraternally with the Bankers Reserve and the fraternal Union and was also a member of the First Methodist church. He leaves to mourn his demise, his wife, five sons and two daughters, Edward Fowler, of Fowler, Colorado; Elmer Fowler and Frank Fowler, of Louisa county; Roy Fowler, of Grandview, and Howard of Muscatine; Mrs. Peal Coutler of Keithsburg, Ill., and Cora at home. The funeral services were held Saturday from his late home in Muscatine.
