Funeral services for Laura Geirse, 80, West Liberty, were held Feb. 27, 1987 at the Snider Funeral Home with the Rev. Ralph Farmer officiating. Burial was in the Nichols cemetery.

Mrs. Geirse died suddenly at her West Liberty home Feb. 24.

The daughter of Charles and Mary Mayers Chapman, she was born Jan. 1, 1907, near West Liberty. In 1924 she moved with her parents to a farm north of Letts. She married Carl Geirse Oct. 17, 1928 in Muscatine and the couple farmed northeast of Nichols until their retirement in 1951. She was a member of the former Cranston Evangelical United Brethren church.

Mr. Geirse is survived by several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1964, 2 sisters and 4 brothers.
