Graveside services for Dr. Hilda Wells, 80, Sarasota, Fla. and formerly of West Liberty, were held Aug. 22 at the Oak Ridge cemetery in West Liberty. The body was cremated.
Dr. Wells died Aug. 2 in Memorial hospital in Sarasota after a sudden illness.
The daughter of Leslie and Mayme McIntosh Watters, she was born in 1906. She married George M. Wells.
Dr. Wells was a graduate of West Liberty high school and attended the University of Iowa. She was a school teacher at Wellman and was on the faculty at Western Illinois University in Macomb. She also served as head of psychology and later dean of students at Blackhawk Junior College in Moline, Ill.
The Wells lived in Sarasota for the past 20 years. Mrs. Wells was a 60-year member of the PEO Sisterhood and Pine Shores Presbyterian church in Sarasota.
She is survived by a sister-in-law, Juantia Watters, West Liberty. She was preceded in death by her husband and a brother.
