My g-g-grandfather Silas Gilmore died in Mapleton, IA on 20 July 1883. He was a resident of Storm Lake but was visiting Mapleton to see his doctor about a skin condition. While in Mapleton, staying with his sons "S.A. Gilmore" (Silas Jr.) and "A.B. Gilmore" (Simeon) who ran a dry goods store business in Mapleton, he succumbed to his skin condtion and died. The funeral was held the following day with seven of his ten children in attendance, according to his obituary. HOWEVER, we cannot find his grave in Mapleton! Or in Storm Lake! Or in any Iowa town! Is there some way to find out if he was, indeed, buried in Mapleton? Any old cemeteries that have gone "to seed" over the years that may not appear on present day cemetery lists?
