Johnny “John” Clyde Jones, 85, of Moorhead, Iowa passed away Saturday, December 14, 2024 at CHI Health Creighton University Medical Center- Bergan Mercy, Omaha, Nebraska.

A Celebration of Life Service will be 2:00 P.M. Saturday, December 21, 2024 at the Little Sioux Church of Christ, Little Sioux, Iowa with Pastor Wayne Bahr, Pastor Scott Jones, and Pastor Steve Sheridan, officiating. A recording of the service will be posted on the Goslar Funeral Home website with John’s obituary. The family requests for those attending to please wear casual dress. A private family burial with Military Honors will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Goslar Funeral Home and Monuments, Onawa, Iowa.

Johnny Clyde was born April 17, 1939 in Albany, Missouri, the son of John “Virgil” and Carrie Mildred (McCrary) Jones. He grew up in Omaha, Nebraska and enlisted in the United States Army at the age of 16. When John was younger, he would mow Millard Park with a manual mower for a $1.00 a week. John proudly served in the United States Army from July 16, 1956 and was honorably discharged March 20, 1958.

John Jones and Carol “Gene’ Speake were united into marriage on October 30, 1960 in Woodbine, Iowa. To this union four children were born, Bob, Billy, Carol, and David.

John started working at Maytag in Omaha and drove truck for Pepsi. In 1963 he worked at Salzman International and sold Pharmaceutical by – products until his retirement in 2021. He loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, great- grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. John enjoyed woodworking, camping, dirt track racing, crossword puzzles, and playing horseshoes and cribbage. He was an avid Nebraska Cornhuskers and Kansas City Chiefs football fan.

John was a member of the Little Sioux Church of Christ, Little Sioux, Iowa.

Survivors include his children, Bob (Robin) Jones of Whiting, Iowa, Carol Jones of Whiting, Iowa, and David (Sheila) Jones of Bentonville, Arkansas; grandchildren, Nicholle, Ryan, Jason, Aaron, Charlotte, and Cash; great-grandchildren, Mariah, Tyler, Kailie, Jade, Caleb, Chloe, Cia, Caden, Hannah, Addison, Bentley, Carter, Hensley, Eira, Coltor, Isla, and Mia; great-great grandchildren, Emery and Violet; sister; Anita (Terry) Trueax of Omaha, Nebraska; and many nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Carol “Gene” Jones; parents, John “Virgil” and Carrie Mildred (McCrary) Jones; parents- in-law, Herbert and Lenore (Vorman) Speake; infant son, Billy Jones; three brothers, Jack Jones, Jim Jones, and Jerry Jones; and many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.
