In Response To: PROCTOR, Phyllis (Karyn Techau)

In the 1940 census it has she was seven, but they put the seven in twice. The first seven is over twelve meaning she was seven months old. So she was born in Sidney, Iowa in Sept. 1939. I found her sister's obit showing she died before her older sister.
This is her sisters Obit;
Barbara Maurine Davis, one of three children of Pauline Catherine (Rainey) Proctor and Harry Reuben Proctor, was born near Sidney, Iowa on February 12, 1933. She attended various country schools in southwest Iowa as her family moved to different farms where her father was employed.

While living in Glenwood, Iowa, Barbara's brother introduced her to his Navy buddy and career officer, Robert Lee Davis. Barb and Bob were married on May 21, 1960 at Council Bluffs, Iowa. Barb continued to live and work in Glenwood while Bob was stationed in Japan and overseas. She worked as a clerk in the local dime store and at Rager Laundry. After Bob retired from the Navy, their marriage was blessed with a daughter, Roberta. Barb became a stay-at-home mother who enjoyed activities at the Glenwood Church of The Nazarene, and later her grandchildren, reading, and feeding the birds and squirrels.

Barb and Bob had been married for 37 years when Bob died on June 17, 1997. Barb continued living in Glenwood where she died at her home on December 5, 2003. She had attained the age of 70 years, 9 months, and 23 days. Preceding Barb in death were her parents, husband Bob, and sister Phyllis Proctor.

Barb is survived by her daughter Roberta Scott and her husband Greg, their daughters, Samantha, Kathlyn, and Lauryn of Glenwood; brother Donald Proctor and his wife Lillian of Glenwood; other relatives and friends.

Was she killed by someone? In one query I was referred to the criminal court in Glenwood. If she was killed by someone I would think there would be a newspaper article. I checked two newspaper sources and they did not have the Glenwood paper for that time period.
