January 13, 1875

PHILIP SMITH, formerly of Richmond, Iowa, died in this place, Jan. 11th,
1875, of lung disease, aged 65 years.

MR. E. COPELAND's little girl "ANNA", about four years old, died of throat
disease on Tuesday morning.

In the Circuit Court of Lucas County, Iowa,
February Term, 1875,
Lucas County, Iowa, Plaintiff,

vs.
EUGENE WILKERSON, executor estate of J.W. WILKERSON, Deceased, Defendants.

To said defendants: EUGENE WILKERSON executor of the estate of J.W.
WILKERSON dec'd and EUGENE WILKERSON, you are hereby notified that there is
now on file in the office of the Clerk of the Circuit Court of Lucas County,
Iowa, a petition of Lucas County, Iowa, claiming of you one hundred and
seventy-five dollars as money due on a promissory note, and also the
foreclosure of a mortgage, and that unless you appear hereto and defend, on
or before noon of the second day of the next term of said Circuit Court, to
be begun and holden at Chariton, Iowa, on the 8th day of February A.D., 1875
default will be entered against you and judgment and decree rendered
thereon.

I will do as I agree and stick to it...
