Hello Marla,
I see your problem. There is no one of that name in the Interments of Louisa Co. through 1997, nor is she found in the WPA records.
Deaths were not recorded at the county level until after July 1880.
So often cemetery data bases evolved over existing gravestones. When none is found - sigh...
In the 1870 Federal census the family was noted as living in Wapello, enumerated 31 Jul 1870.
James remarried to Mrs. Elizabeth Weiser on 8 Nov 1871.
So that provides you with the 'window' on when Missouri left the family picture. Maybe she died or they divorced?
The next bit of hope might found in a newspaper account.
Keck Public Library, in Wapello, has newspapers on microfilm. Within their collection they hold the Wapello Republican Apr 9, 1870 - Feb 23, 1888. Also Louisa Co. Safeguard Jan 13, 1870 - Nov. 28, 1872.
These papers are not indexed. The library does not have the staff to do the research for you.
