Girlie Lucile Upson was born at Morning Sun, Iowa, October 20, 1895, and died at her home six miles north of Morning Sun on Sunday evening October 28, 1917, aged 22 years and 8 days. She grew to woman hood in Morning Sun, graduating from the High school there in 1915 and taught three terms in the rural schools of Louisa county. On October 24th, 1916, she was married to Verne O. Harris, who with a baby daughter, Coral Lorraine, are left to mourn the loss of a sweet young wife and mother, Besides these she leaves a father, mother, one brother, and many other friends and relatives.

Lucile was ready to go, for the Savior whom she loved and trusted, took away the sting of death and the grave held no terror for her. Through all her intense suffering which was about a weeks duration she did not murmur or complain, always giving a kind and loving word to those loved ones about her. The funeral occurred from the M. E. church in Morning Sun, on Wednesday, October 21, at 2 o'clock p. m., after which she was tenderly laid to rest in the Elmwood cemetery.
