Page 1Wm. Poggemiller, a prominent farmer residing west of Morning Sun, was killed shortly after 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon when a hay fork fell on him. The accident occurred while Mr. Poggemiller assisted by his two sons and a neighbor, were putting hay in the barn loft. In some manner the pulley rope operating the hay fork broke and the fork fell, striking Mr. Poggemiller in the back. We understand the implement pierced his back making a terrible wound. He walked to the house and after telling his wife that he was badly wounded and that he was done for, he fell dead. The deceased was 45 years of age and had been a resident of the Morning Sun community for over eight years. His wife and two sons and a brother survive.
