Silas P. Brogan, son of James and Barbara (Plants) Brogan, was born in Holmes county, Ohio, August 18, 1832, and died at Kossuth, Iowa, April 24th, 1911 at the age of 78 years, 8 months and 6 days. He came to Iowa with his parents in Feb. 1839 at the age of seven years and has since resided in this count, with the exception of the last few years, has been in charge of a general store at Northfield and later at Kossuth. Mr. Brogan never married but after the death of his parents made his home with his widowed sister, Louisa Brogan Hall for a number of years and later with his brother, William, both now deceased. He was one of eight children and leaves to mourn his death an aged brother, James Brogan and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held from the Bethel church yesterday afternoon after which the remains were laid to rest in the Bethel cemetery.
