Page 1Dr. A. B. McCandless, an old physician of Columbus City, died at his home at Holton, Kan., recently. He lived in this county for many years until his removal to Kansas about fifteen years ago and was a prominent figure in his profession and the work of the church, especially in the Sunday school. He belonged to a family of physicians as indicated by the loss of surviving members of the family: Dr. A. W. McCandles, of Chicago; Dr. A. H. McCandless, of Rock Island; H. A. McCandless, of Terry, Oklahoma; Dr. C. R. McCandless, of Davenport, George P. McCandless, of Kansas City, Mrs. F. G. Moore, of Terry, Oklahoma and Mrs. J. W. Reynolds, of Fullerton, Kansas. He was 79 years of age at the time of his death, and was a native of Allegheny county, Pennsylvania. The remains were brought back and laid to rest in the old Columbus City cemetery.
