Letts - Another old soldier gone. Wm. Verink, who served four years in the Civil war as a member of the 2d Iowa Cavalry, died at his home northwest of Letts Tuesday morning at 7 o'clock, from injuries received from a fall a few days ago. His age was 88 years. Six weeks ago he buried his wife after a long illness. His watchful care during her illness told seriously on his health. He leaves one son, John, living north of town and one daughter, Mrs. Susie Shellabarger, of Letts.
