Looks like you are going to need to look more in Dubuque County. Though Cascade spills over into Jones, the main part is in Dubuque and that is where your family lived.

Thomas Richard McQuillen, born June 29, 1919 in Cascade, Dubuque Co., IA, died June 30, 1986 in Venice, Los Angeles Co., CA. Son of John Richard McQuillen (1892-1958) married 8/14/1918 Garryowen, Jackson Co., IA to Grace V. Reddin (1894-1990).

From what I am seeing, looks like you are trying to find a bio father. I too spent 25-years doing just the same. Also check the Venice, CA newspaper obit and Cascade obits... and get a copy of his Social Security card info which may lists benefit info.

I see his death as June 3 on a query but June 30 on the SSDI. Good luck!
