Last rites for Mrs. Carl (Amanda) Levsen, 95, were held at Olin Nov. 7 with the Rev. Calvin Schumacher officiating. Pallbearers were Bob, Dan and David Levsen and Steve, Dennis and Brian Goldsmith. Honorary bearers were Wade Collier, Jim Baldwin, Gene Logel, Kevin McCauley, Steve Corbin, Dennis Heimdal and Edward and Curtis Levsen. Burial was in the Olin cemetery.
Mrs. Levsen died at her home in Stanwood Nov. 4.
The daughter of Martin and Brodina Christophersen Lorenzen, she was born in Jones county Nov. 6, 1892. She was educated in the country schools.
As a young woman she worked as a seamstress for a prominent Cedar Rapids family. She married Carl M. Levsen in Cedar Rapids May 26, 1915. The couple farmed between Olin and Clarence, retiring to Stanwood in 1948. Her husband died in 1967. She was a charter member of the Unity club.
She is survived by 2 daughters, Mrs. Richard (Hilda) Goldsmith, Martelle and Mrs. Lawrence (Lois) Ruther, Clarence; 3 sons, Louis, Clarence; Max, Stanwood and Edward, Tustin, Calif.; 16 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, 3 brothers, 2 sisters, a grandson and a great-grandson.
