MCNAMARA, MCLAUGHLIN

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Feb. 1, 1972 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic church for Mrs. Emilin A. (Maldean) McNamara, who died Jan. 28 at Anamosa Community hospital after a lengthy illness. Officiating clergy were the Rev. Alfred Brosius, the Rev. Clement Burke and the Rev. Drummy. Arrangements were made by Devaney Funeral home, and burial was in Holy Cross cemetery, Anamosa.

Music was provided by the children's choir of St. Patrick's church, accompanied by Mrs. Harold Martensen.

Pallbearers were J. C. Burke, Lawrence Schwers, Louis Stoll, Gene Flaherty, Ed Houser, Ken Quinn, Bill Wunder and David McNamara. Ushers were Cletus McNamara, Frank McNamara and Doug Julius.

Maldean McLaughlin McNamara was born in Anamosa, the daughter of Simon T. and Grace Dougherty McLaughlin. She received a BA degree from the University of Iowa and an MA degree from Columbia University, New York. She taught at the University of North Dakota, Mount St. Scholastica college and more recently at Linn Mar school, Marion.

She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma sorority, National Education association, Iowa State Education association and the Altar and Rosary Society of St. Patrick's church.

Survivors include her husband, Emilin A. McNamara; a son, Michael F. McNamara, Long Beach, Calif., a daughter, Kathleen McNamara, Kenosha, Wis., a sister, Rita A. McLaughlin, Anamosa; two nieces and two nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother and infant sister.
