Miss Katie Wilkinson, aged 17 years, was killed by the limited freight train near the penitentiary in Anamosa last Sunday at 2 o’clock. She was walking upon the track. The engineer saw her and blew a warning from the whistle. The girl stepped from the track, apparently to await the passage of the train, but as the engine approached her she was seen to sway and fall against the locomotive, some part of which struck her and cause her death. The engineer said that if he thought that she did not her or understand the warning he could have stopped the train. But when she stepped from the track in obedience to the alarm he presumed that she was safe and aware of her actions
