John Pechman, 87, lifelong resident of Johnson County passed away March 14, 2025 at Atrium Village.

John was born April 12, 1937 in Iowa City to Elmer Pechman and Catherine Mary Draker. He grew up on a farm in Lone Tree, Iowa and graduated from Lone Tree High School. John then went on to serve in the Army, stationed in Germany. Upon returning from the Army he began to farm south of Iowa City which he did until he retired. He also worked for Liberty Doors in North Liberty for about 12 years later in life.

When John wasn’t grain farming and taking care of his livestock, he enjoyed playing cards, baseball, fishing, hunting and going to Iowa football games and watching Iowa basketball. He also enjoyed his trips to Mexico, Hawaii, Florida and Canada. He would take fishing trips where they would fly into a remote location in Canada to go walleye fishing.

He is survived by his children, Scott Pechman, Patricia Dwyer, and David Pechman, sister Mary Ernst, three grandchildren, Kieran, Keegan and Nathaniel, and former spouse and friend Betsy Kelchen.

John was preceded in death by his parents, sister Joyce, and former spouse Phyllis Pechman.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 18, 2025 from 10:00 – 11:00 AM at Lensing Funeral and Cremation Service with a service at 11:00 AM. A luncheon will follow the funeral service at The Kirkwood Room before burial at Lone Tree Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Atrium Village or St. Croix Hospice.
