In Response To: HAWTHORNE family (Mona Knight)

I have found a limited amount of information for you.

We have records from the 1840 Territorial Federal Census that both Jesse and John were here. Jesse had one male and 4 females in the household.
John had 1 male and 3 females in his household.
There also was a George Hawthorne with 2 males and three females in the household.
There was no Noah and Mary listed in the Territorial Census.

In the 1850 Census Jesse is shown as 50 yrs old, born in Tenn. and 8 people in his household.
In the same census there is also a Susannah, 27, born in Ohio living with an Edmund Miller family.
John is not shown in the census since we have record of him dying 22 Aug. 1843, 50 years 6 months and 14 days old, buried in the Bidwell Cemetery in Walnut Township, Jefferson County.
Jesse is recorded as dying ca Mar. 1 1878. He came to Jefferson County in 1838, one of our earliest settlers.

We have a Mary Hawthorn married to a John Barger 28 March 1847, a Julia Ann Hawthorn married to a James Frasey 04 July 1849 and an Elizabeth Hawthorne married to a Thomas Hart 21 June 1842. There was a Mary Jane Hawthorne married to a John Wesley Spargo 15 Mar. 1855. We have Family information on this family in Gold Book volume 4, page 95 in our library. Perhaps Verda Baird will look that up for you if you post that request separately on another query.
Then there is a William Hawthorn who married a Susan Woods 30 December 1848.
I don't know if all these people are connected to your family or not.

We also have other Hawthornes buried in the Smith Cemetery in Locust Grove Township. These are as follows -
1. R. T. Hawthorne (b) March 5, 1819 - (d) Apr. 22, 1884
2. Mary his wife - (b) June 29, 1825 - (d) Sept. 27, 1901
3. Elenora (Elennory) (b) Oct 20, 1855 - (d) Sept. 24, 1860
4. David F. (b) Aug. 10, 1860 - (d) Mar. 1, 1862

These things are the only items I could discover in a hurry and I'm not sure how much is helpful to you. Perhaps others can give you more help.
