Sven Anderson & Maja Stina Mansdotter

Sven and Maja Stina were the parents of my paternal great grandfather Charles Edward Anderson.
Sven died in Iowa in 1864 (according to family history) and Maja immediately remarried. Charles was 19 and upon his mother's remarriage he joined the Union Army.

We have never been able to locate death certificates or burial records for Sven or Maja Stina. We can't find a marriage record for Maja Stina remarrying after Sven's death.

I know that many families could not afford gravestones, but there should at least be a church/cemetery record of their burials.

Does anyone have any ideas? I have searched on Ancestry.com, and have traced both of their parents back to 1750 in Sweden, but I would like to find out where they are buried.
