DOUDS — Eileen M. Kunzman, 90, of Cedar Rapids, formerly of Douds and FAIRFIELD, died at 2:22 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 22, 2007 at St. Luke’s Hospital, Cedar Rapids.
She was born Sept. 10, 1917 in Ottumwa to Ernest and Fern Scearcy Canaday. She married George W. Kunzman Oct. 4, 1952 in St. Paul Lutheran Church, Ottumwa. He died Dec. 5, 1997.
Eileen graduated from Douds High School and Parsons College, taught in rural schools and Selma and Eldon schools and was later employed by the U.S. Postal Service in Ottumwa and Douds post offices. Most of her life was spent in the Douds area until retiring to Fairfield and later moving to Cedar Rapids.
She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Ottumwa; John Hyson Reneker Unit 494 American Legion Auxiliary and Twin City Chapter 258 Order of Eastern Star.
Surviving are a son, George W. Kunzman, Jr.; a son-in-law, Duane Funk; a granddaughter, Kara Funk, a sister, Velma Brady all of Cedar Rapids; a brother, Roy Canaday of Douds; and a great-grandson, Jayden Albaugh.
In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Barbara Funk; two brothers, Clarence and Earl Canady; and a sister, Lucile Fletcher.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 26, 2007, at Pedrick Funeral Home, Douds, Pastor Michael Mosier officiating. Burial will be in Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Douds.Visitation will be open 2-5 p.m., Sunday at the funeral home.
Memorials to Cystic Fibrosis Foundation may be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at 407 20th St., N.W., Cedar Rapids, Iowa 52405.
