I've not posted for some time and am wondering if someone might be researching the surname of HAMPTON in Jefferson Co.

I need information about Clara E. (Stidger) HAMPTON, widow of Levi HAMPTON. They came to Jefferson Co. IA in c. 1875, from their lifelong homes in Ohio. After a 4-da. illness, Levi died in early 1882 in Fairfield. Clara Hampton gave up two of their children for adoption. There was also a son, Edward, born 1878-79 in Fairfield. I don't know what happened to him after his father's death.

I found a Fred Edward Hampton who was born 1878 in Jefferson Co., registering for World War I 1917-1918 draft, in Bavaria, Jefferson Co. IA. He was 39 yrs. old and working as a Brakeman for the railroad.

Can someone verify who Fred Edward Hampton was. Was he the Edward Hampton born to Levi and Clara Hampton?

Any information about him or his mother, Clara Hampton, after 1882 appreciated.
