FAMILY OF SILAS PARKS AND NANCY ANN COOP (as far as I know presently)
*Silas Parks (son of Jacob and Nancy Ann [Bonham]Parks) b. 7 Sept. 1832 in Virginia; d. 31 Oct. 1920, Ottumwa, Wapello Co., IA; and buried at Shaul Cemetery, Ottumwa. This birth-death-burial information was provided on Silas' death certificate filed with the State Dept. of Public Health by his son, Jefferson Parks, who was its informant. His birthplace is probably Romney, Hampshire Co., Virginia (?).
Silas had married Nancy Ann Coop on May 1st, 1856, in Jefferson Co., Iowa. Nancy Ann: Daughter of Colonel William G. Coop and Nancy Ann (Harris) Coop and who was born in Iowa on November 8, 1840, and died on March 25, 1881 (or thereabouts) in Jefferson County. Burial was at "Coop's Graveyard" (probably Antioch Church graveyard) in Jefferson County.
*Children of Silas and Nancy Ann Coop Parks:
(a) Isabell Nancy "Belle" Parks Basford Campbell Brown Higgins (b. 12 June 1858, Jefferson Co., IA-d. 13 August 1925 in Sedgwick Co., Kansas, near Wichita; burial is at Kechi Cemetery, Kechi, Kansas). Vital Stats are provided on her death certificate. The informant, Charles Tuell (husband of her daughter Clara Mabel), indicated Fairfield as Belle's place of birth, but it's probably out in Jefferson County.
All the information on Belle here is already provided in these "William Basford" posts by me.
(b) Martha Parks (b. ca. 1862?) I believe she was known by "Mattie."
(c) Jefferson Parks (b. 29 August 1863, Jefferson Co., IA; d. ?). He married Clara Richards on December 26, 1895, in Wapello Co., Iowa.
(d)Ann Parks (b. ca. 1865?)
(e) Mary Parks (b. ca. 1870?). She married Lewis T. Bivens.
(f) Silas Denver Parks (or vice versa...Denver Silas Parks...not sure which is correct..but he's known by "Denver" often) (b. 24 May 1877, Jefferson Co., IA; d. exactly on 30 August 1947 or thereabouts in Ottumwa, Wapello Co., IA; burial at Shaul Cemetery, Ottumwa, Wapello Co., IA). His widow, who outlived him, was named Clara Asch whom he married in Wapello County, Iowa, on March 11, 1902 and the minister was J.L. Flowers. This information is from his Ottumwa newspaper. obituary.
Denver was previously married to Rosie Pearson.
As Denver was sometimes known as Oliver Parks in some records, I found one mention of death of Elizabeth Parks, wife of Oliver, who died on November 28, 1895. Not 100 percent certain this Oliver and Denver are one and the same person, though.
WILL CONTINUE WITH FAMILIES OF SOME OF THESE CHILDREN...
