FAIRFIELD. -- Private funeral rites will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Hoskins funeral home for Miss Emma BARR HORN, 51, who died Friday at 6:45 a.m. in Jacksonville, Ill., where she had lived with her mother, Mrs. J. Milton HORN, for several years.
Dr. L. L. Weis of the First Methodist church will conduct the services and the body will be placed in Fairfield Abbey.
Miss HORN was born June 1, 1903, on a Jefferson county farm near Richland, the daughter of Milton and Adda (sic - Ada) McPHERSON HORN. She came to Fairfield with her parents when a child and was graduated from the local high school and Parsons college.
Surviving are her mother and one brother, Ralph of Davenport. Her father, a former member of the Jefferson county supervisors, preceded her in death.

*Transcribed for genealogy purposes; I have no relation to the person(s) mentioned.Note: Buried in Lot 4th.115, in Evergreen Cemetery, Fairfield, IA, on the same monument as her parents. She was originally interred in the Fairfield Abbey, a mausoleum which once stood in what is now the 6th Addition of Evergreen Cemetery. In the 1960s, due to deterioration, the Abbey was torn down and those who had been buried there were transferred to other places of rest.
Emma was mistakenly listed in Evergreen burials as Emma BARR, as that is how she is noted on her HORN parents' stone, but BARR is the surname of her husband Gaylord Kenneth BARR whom she married in Jefferson County on June 1, 1926. There must have been a divorce because he remarried in June, 1941, in Marion, IN, died in 1976 and was buried there with his second wife.
