Mildred HOOVER

FAIRFIELD -- Mildred Marie SHOEMAKER HOOVER, 89, of 909 S. Second St. died at 10:43 p.m. March 21, 1992, at Jefferson County Hospital.

She was born July 20, 1902, in Hiteman to Rufus Harkin and Margaret L. MARTIN SHOEMAKER. She married H. Otis HOOVER on June 7, 1928, at her parents home.

She lived in Hiteman until 12 when the family moved to Fairfield. She graduated from Fairfield High School and received her bachelor of science degree from Parsons College in 1925. For 26 years she was an elementary school teacher in Fairfield. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, past president of Retired Teachers Association, life time member of Eastern Star, a member of P.E.O. Chapter M.B., and past president of Jefferson County Hospital Auxiliary.

She is survived by her husband; a son, Dr. James O. HOOVER of Durham, N.C.; and two grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

The service will be 10:30 a.m. today at First Presbyterian Church in Fairfield, the Rev. David Kennedy officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Teachers Scholarshop at Fairfield High School.

Raymond Funeral Home in Fairfield is in charge of arrangements.
