Whitehead, Ethel Zola Beals – 1907-1946

Ethel Zola Whitehead, wife of Glen Whitehead, passed away in her sleep at her home in Colfax Wednesday morning, March 27th, her death resulting from heart trouble at the age of 38 years, 9 months and 13 days.
She was born on June 14, 1907 of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. S. W. Beals at Scottsbluff, Nebraska. When she was four years old her mother passed away and she was taken into the home of Mr. and Mrs. David Beals of Ira. She was raised in their home and attended school in Ira. In 1917 she became a Christian and joined the Methodist Church.
On August 18, 1926, she was joined in marriage to Glen Whitehead. To this union were born Dean, now 17 and Jeanette, now 12. The family moved to Colfax on Dec. 12, 1942.
Besides her devoted husband and children she is survived by her father Sam Beals of Mingo; three sisters, Mrs. Helen Bell of Colfax; Mrs. Lola Cordray and Mrs. Lena Watchler, both of Waterloo, and a brother, Norris of Mingo. Hosts of relatives, friends and neighbors join the family in mourning her death.
Funeral services were conducted from the Christian Church Saturday afternoon, March 30th, with the Rev. W. R. Leeds officiating.
Music was burnished by Mrs. Geo Robinson, Mrs. Earl Plummer, Chester and Maynard Binkerd with Mrs. George Rinker accompanist.
Pall bearers were Loren Penquite, Orlo Southern, Raymond Iske, Donald Weston, Elmer Bell and Earl Wilson.
Flower committee – Mrs. Loren Penquite, Mrs. Donald Weston and Mrs. Chester Binkerd.
Burial was had in the Union Chapel cemetery.
Card of Thanks – We wish to publicly express our gratitude to neighbors and friends for their many acts of kindness and sympathy shown us since the sudden death of our loved one. Also for the man beautiful floral tributes. Glen Whitehead, Dean and Jeanette; Mr. and Mrs. S. W. Beals; Mrs. Helen Bell, Mrs. Laura Cordray, Mrs. Lena Watchler and Norris Beals.
