Daughter Maytag Co. Founder Dies

Graveside rites for Mrs. William Howard (Louise Polly) Smith, 88, of Prattville, Alabama, a former resident of Newton, were held today at Prattville.

Mrs. Smith is the daughter of F. L. Maytag, founder of the Maytag Co.

Survivors are her husband and three children.

The daughter of Frederick Louis and Dena Bergman Maytag, she was born July 14, 1885 in Newton and attended Newton Community High School. She was graduated from Iowa State University in Ames.

She was married in 1909.

Mrs. Smith died Wednesday at her home in Prattville.
