Funeral services for Mrs. Andrew Broderson were held Sunday afternoon at 2:00 o’clock at the Palo Alto church with Rev. W. G. Weber of Kellogg officiating. Burial was in the Palo Alto cemetery.
A quartet consisting of Mrs. Burr, Mrs. Fred Reeves, Fred Hough and T. H. Maytag, sang two selections, “In the Sweet Bye and Bye” and “Beautiful Isle of Somewhere,” and Mr. Hough sang a solo, “The Old Rugged Cross.” Josephine Wormley accompanied at the piano.
Pallbearers for the service were Oscar Stockton, Carl Snyder, James Wasson, Bert Wasson, William Kirkpatrick and Charles Kirkpatrick. Flower girls were Mrs. Oscar Stockton, Mrs. Ethel Wilcox and Mrs. Carl Snyder.
Katherine Wulf was born in Laudenburg, Germany, on June 15, 1853 and died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Will Talbot in Newton, on Jan. 1, 1931 at the age of 77 years, six months and 17 days.
She was one of seven children, all of whom were born in Germany, and who came to this country with their parents in 1868 or 1869 and settled about three miles east of Baxter.
She was united in marriage to Andrew Broderson on Oct. 12, 1871, who preceded her in death on March 4, 1917.
To this union seven children were born, two of whom preceded Mrs. Broderson in death, Mrs. Lena Reece, who died Feb. 2, 1900, and John C. Broderson, who died Nov. 20, 1921. Those surviving are Mrs. Tille Talbot, Mrs. Minnie Preston, Mrs. Anna Reece, and George and Ray Broderson, all living in Palo Alto township.
She also leaves one sister, Mrs. Peter Broderson, 14 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
After their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Broderson settled on a farm near Reasnor, where they lived until his death. Mrs. Broderson remained there a few years longer and then moved to Reasnor, where she resided until five years ago, when her health failed. She then came to the home of her daughter, Mrs. Will Talbot, where she has since made her home.
Mrs. Broderson was baptized in the Christian faith according to the Lutheran church when a girl and attended that church until services were discontinued at the school house near her home. She then attended the United Brethren and the Methodist Episcopal church as long as her health permitted.
