I have been researching Reid/Reed/Reads in Caswell county, North Carolina and believe that the Alexander Read of Bellevue, Jackson, Iowa is the same Alexander Reed referenced in one Thomas Read Estate Packet dated 1849 in Caswell county, North Carolina. While Alexander's residence is listed as Jackson co Iowa in 1846; his sibling, John Reid's residence is listed as Jo Daviess, Illinois. He also has siblings in St. Louis, Missouri.

I realize the link between Caswell county, North Carolina and Jackson co, Iowa seems odd or far reaching given the preliminary survey data I've been finding suggesting these Reed/Reid/Reads have a NY and Ireland connection. But the records I have found in Caswell are explicit and any Reid/Reed/Read researcher would be foolish to ignore them.

I am just starting a preliminary survey on Reid/Reed/Read in Jackson co, Iowa and would appreciate having the opportunity to review any researchers previously compiled work and/or documents.

I do not have any information on Winifred Cahalan. Parentage may be related to the Reids or Alexander Reed may have just been a financial guardian. Even if the later case, it should be noted that people traveled and immigrated in groups so Winifred's place of origin/migration probably mirrors that of the Reid/Reed/Read family.
