Rick Brandon, Jr., age 75, of Marengo, passed away Sunday, March 2, 2025, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Visitation: 9 to 10:45 a.m., Monday, March 10, 2025, at First United Methodist Church in Marengo with a memorial service to follow at 11:00 a.m., with Rev. Joseph Blay officiating. Memorials may be directed to the St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.

Rick is survived by his loving wife Darla of Marengo, his children, Julie White of Eddyville, Jami (Vett) Haga of Ottumwa, and Tina (Rian) Sherman of Marengo; 11 grandchildren, Joey Wood, Mel Forcier, Justin Haga, Nick Haga, Brandon Drew, Michael Drew, Nesse Tuttle, Lane Lyman, Codie Lyman, Paige Sherman and Faith Sherman; five great-grandchildren, Nevaelynn Blaylack, Octavia Baylack, Archer Lyman, Noah Jax, and Maeve Lyman. Also surviving Rick is his sister Lori Wolfe and best friend Leon (Judy) Bean of Boerne, Texas.

He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Dave, sisters, Linda Bixby, Sue Dietrich, and a son Chris Lyman.

Clair Richard Brandon Jr. was born June 25, 1949, in Marshalltown, Iowa, the son of Richard (Dick) and Berta (Denbow) Brandon. He graduated from Jefferson High School in 1967. Rick was united in marriage to Darla White on October 6, 1985, in Boerne, Texas. He was a truck driver for Casey’s for 28 years. Rick was a true friend to all, a champion hugger and he was a guitar playing cowboy. He was an artist with wood, creating beautiful wall art and cradles for his grandkids. Camping with family was a favorite past time and there were always shenanigans and laughter. Rick was a dedicated husband, loving father, doting grandpa and great-grandpa. He loved a cold Michelob light and traveling with Darla. He especially enjoyed his trips to Texas to see his “family.”
