Mary E. Mumm, age 82 of Marengo, passed into the arms of Jesus, joining her loved ones in Heaven. She passed away Sunday evening, March 2, 2025 at Rose Haven Nursing Home, Marengo. Graveside Services will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, March 6, 2025, at Pilot Grove Cemetery, rural Williamsburg, with Ben Brecht officiating.
Mary Elaine Stevens was born September 11, 1942 in Marengo, Iowa, the daughter of Ben and Florence Minnaert Stevens. She received her education in the Hilton Consolidated School in Conroy, graduating from Marengo High School in 1962. She and Gary Lynn Mumm were married May 28, 1966 at the United Methodist Church, in Millersburg, Iowa.
Mary was employed with Collins Radio in Cedar Rapids from 1962 to 1966. She then worked at the Ben Franklin Store in Williamsburg, 1968 – 1993. She also held various cleaning jobs. She loved helping others, and especially enjoyed her volunteer work, helping in the kitchen at the Marengo Methodist Church, and also with Senior Dining in Marengo. She always enjoyed a good card game with her friends, playing Euchre or Sheepshead.
Mary is survived by her sisters, Marcella Hilton of Cedar Rapids, Loretta Booth of Sheboygan, WI, and Beverly Neswold (Larry) of Cedar Rapids and Peoria, AZ. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, as well as sisters-in-law, and brother-in-law. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Gary L. Mumm in 1981, and brothers, Leroy, Dave, Don, LaVerne, Gary, Tom, and Bernie, and sisters Pat Seye and Janet Fish, along with sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, a nephew and a great-nephew.
Cards and memorials may be sent to the family in care of Kloster Funeral Home, 298 W Washington St. Marengo, Iowa 52301. Designated memorial recipients are the National Kidney Foundation or directed to the family. Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo is assisting the family with arrangements.
Mary was so thankful to all those who assisted her throughout her life. A special thank you to Joanie and Joseph Seye. Mary’s farewell saying was always “be safe and God bless you.”
