Luella D. Neubauer, age 91, of Battle Creek, Iowa passed away on Monday, May 11, 2015 at Willow Dale Wellness Village of Battle Creek, Iowa. Memorial Services will be held at 2:30 p.m., Saturday, May 16, 2015, at the St. Johns Lutheran Church of Battle Creek, Iowa. The Reverend Randy D. Cormeny will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery of Battle Creek, Iowa. Visitation will be held on Friday May 15, 2015 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Christensen - Van Houten Funeral Home of Battle Creek, Iowa. The Christensen ~ Van Houten Funeral Home of Battle Creek, Iowa is in charge of the funeral arrangements. Luella Dorothy (Heide) Neubauer was born on March 7, 1924 in Denison, Iowa. Luella was the daughter of Johann and Alma (Hollander) Heide. She was baptized into the Lutheran faith at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison, Iowa on October 7, 1924 and confirmed in her faith on April 2, 1939. Luella attended country school in Crawford County. On February 6, 1944 Luella was united into marriage to Leslie Alfred Neubauer in the Lutheran Parsonage of Denison, Iowa. The couple were blessed with a son Larry. The family made their home on a farm west of Battle Creek were they farmed from 1944 to 1967. Luella and Leslie started managing the Moore Brothers grocery store in Battle Creek, Iowa for thirteen years before becoming a custodian at Ida County State Bank in Ida Grove for sixteen years before retiring in 1991. Luella was a faithful member of St. Johns Lutheran Church in Battle Creek, Iowa. She enjoyed cross stitching, playing cards, dancing, fishing and camping with her grandchildren. Luella had a special place in her heart for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Luella is survived by her son, Larry Neubauer of Battle Creek, IA; three grandchildren, Renae Hamann of Ida Grove, IA; Sheri Neubauer of Ida Grove, IA; Scott (Yone) Neubauer of Athens, AL; six great grandchildren, Brittany, Devin, Scottie, Isaac, Christian and Sydney; Sister and brother in law, Eunice and Melvin Kohles of Grand Junction, CO; and many nieces, nephews and friends. Luella was preceded in death by her parents; loving husband Leslie; sisters, Eleanor Henningsen and Lucinda Wigg; brothers-in-law, Edward Wigg and Milroy Henningsen.
