Services were held July 8 at St. Olaf Lutheran Church at Bode for Arthur Tofteberg, 52, who was pronounced dead on arrival at Bethesda General Hospital at Fort Dodge, Sunday afternoon, July5.
Pastor Norman Johnson officiated at the service. Casket bearers were Glenn Mathiason, Mel Bratland, Cleo Gravlund, Jack Strickland, Jerry Christensen, and Charles Reetz. Special music was provided by Conrad Rossing, soloist, accompanied by Mrs. David Engle, organist.
Floral arrangements were in charge of Mrs. Howard Curry and Mrs. Donald Kinne. Interment was in St. Olaf Cemetery where military rites were conducted by American Legion Post 524 of Bode. The Lindhart Funeral Home of Humboldt was in charge of arrangements.
Surviving are his widow, Pernella, and a daughter, Mrs. Roland McKay, both of Fort Dodge; a son, Glen Alan, serving in Vietnam; one grandchild, a brother, Leo, Bode; a stepbrother, Melvin Bratland, Bode; and a step-sister, Mrs. Ray Kadding, Fenton.
Glen Tofteberg was born in Bode and reared and educated in the Bode-Ottosen area. In 1942 he married Pernella Mathiason at Bode. That year he entered the service and served in the Pacific Theater where he was awarded the Purple Heart, Good Conduct Medal, and the Phillipine Liberation Ribbon with one star.
He was a member of the Bode American Legion and the Bode Lutheran Church.
