This community was shocked last week to heart of the sudden death of Mrs. Henry Hass, of Cresco. She was an old time resident of this community The sincere sympathy of her many friends extends to the family.

OBITUARY.
Hass.
Bertha Mackenburg, eldest daughter of William and Hannah Mackenburg, was born Jan. 30, 1859. At Motzel, Pommerania, Germany. She was baptized in infancy, brought up and remained a conscientious member of the Evangelical Lutheran church.
At the age of eight she came with her parents to this country, locating at Waukesha, Wis., where they remained two years and then moved to Cresco, Iowa. She was united in marriage with Henry Hass March 21, 1879, and resided on a farm near Kendallville 31 years.
Eight years ago last fall she and her husband moved to Cresco where she passed away May 15, 1919.
Last Thursday morning she was stricken with appoplexy{sic} and passed away at 8:35 in the evening.
She was the mother of six children—Charles, John and William of Cresco, Mrs. Chas. Rung of Harmony, Minn., Albert and Lydia of Bowbells, N. D. Besides her husband, children and eleven grandchildren she is survived by one sister and five brothers One brother and sister preceded her to the great beyond. Mrs. Hass was a devoted wife and mother, a kind neighbor and friends, a true christian whose passing away causes great sorrow to those who knew her best.
Burial was in New Oregon cemetery Monday.
