OBITUARY.
Fish.
Emma L Rathbun was born at Frankville, Iowa, April 18, 1856, the third daughter of Walter and Wealthy Rathbun. She was married to William G. Fish August 29, 1874, and resided in Winneshiek county until 1878 when they moved to Howard county and located on a farm near Howard Center.
In December, 1892, they moved to Cresco where her home has been until the time of her death, May 3, 1919.
She was the mother of three daughters, Mrs. J. P. Feuling of St. Paul, Mrs. E. L. Weaklen of Cresco, and Alice who died March 15, 1894, at the age of twenty months.
She united with the Congregational church of Cresco January, 1897, of which she was a member at the time of her death.
She is survived by her husband, two daughters, two sons-in-law, and granddaughter Helen, also two sisters, Mrs. Newton Freer of Heron Lake, Minn., Mrs. A. W. Oxley of Ossian, Iowa, and one brother, G. W. Rathbun, also of Ossian.
She was a woman of strong character and capability, ever ready to help those in need, to aid in sickness and comfort in times of sorrow. She was a kind, loving wife, a strong and faithful helpmate, a devoted mother, a true and loyal friend. Those who knew her best loved her best and outside her home she will be missed most by those in the immediate neighborhood.
Funeral services were held at the home this afternoon conducted by Rev. W. A. Bockoven and burial was in Oaklawn.
Those from out of town who attended the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Rathbun, A. W. Oxley, Walter Oxley, Mrs. W. Cornell, Mr. and Mrs. M. WIltzgen, Ossian; Mrs. Newton Freer, Heron Lake, Minn., Mrs. John Williams, Mrs. Ray Alyger, Decorah; Mrs. D. A. Weaklen, Mrs. C. A. Weaklen, Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Feuling, New Hampton.
