This community was shocked with the death of Henry Fisher was announced. He was one of Hamilton County's old settlers. He was born December 5th, 1832, in Ohio, and died at Stanhope, June the 6th, 1913, aged 80 years, 6 months and 1 day. Services were held at the residence and a funeral sermon preached at the Saratoga Christian church conducted by Rev. G. H. Dick. He was married May the 19th, 1853 to Margaret J. Gothery [should be Guthrie] in Ohio. To this union was born 6 sons and 5 daughters: Mary E., Hannah J., Lucinda, Isabelle, Sarah A., Robert, Henry J., Charles, Thomas W., Edward. His wife died October 5, 1879 and he married December 15th, 1881 to Susie B. Coskiey [should be Corkey] and to this last union was born Jessie L. All the children are left to mourn him except Edward who died in 1873. He is also survived by his last wife. Henry Fisher was a man of whom his friends and neighbors could seek sympathy and help and from whom he never turned away when in need. He came to Iowa in 1854, settling in the section on the Boon river. He engaged in the milling business, then settled on a farm, familiarly known at the Henry Fisher farm. In October 1911 he moved to Stanhope. In October 1911 he moved to Stanhope. In his younger days he united with the M. E. church, later when a Universalist church was organized at Saratoga he united with that class. A large audience assembled at Saratoga where he was laid to rest in the Saratoga cemetery. The sympathy of the community and The Record is extended to his faithful wife and children.
