A telegram was received here last Thursday saying Delbert Olafson [sic], of Granada, Minn., was seriously ill and was not expected to live. It came as a shock to the community and many friends anxiously waited for good news telling of his recovery. But the second telegram came saying that Delbert died February 7, 1920 at 1:45 A. M., early Saturday morning after a brief illness of six days with bronchial pneumonia. He was brought to Stratford Tuesday, February 10th, where the funeral services were conducted by Rev. T. H. Calestrom of Stratford and Rev. G. H. Dick of Stanhope.

Delbert A. Olafson was born at Stratford August 20, 1891, where he spent his boyhood days and attended the Stratford schools. He was confirmed into the faith of the Swedish Lutheran church fourteen years ago.

Mr. Olafson [sic] was united in marriage April 8, 1911, to Golda Snyder, of Stanhope, who with their one daughter, Marvel, survive him. His father and mother also are living and besides these he leaves three brothers and four sisters. One brother, Charlie, died nine years ago. The living brothers are Gilbert and Leon, who reside in Canada, and Eddie of Stratford. The sisters, the Mrs. W. L. Brundein, of Dayton, Mrs. H. V. Larson, of Granada, Minn., Mrs. Clement Johnson and Mrs. Amil Larson, who live at Stratford. There are also a host of acquaintances and friends in whose memory Delbert will live even though he has passed before them to the great beyond.

Interment was made at the Olson cemetery* Tuesday. immediately following the funeral service, Four of the cousins, Harry, Allie, Elmer and Vernie Olofson, acted as pall bearers, with the assistance of Ed Barquist and John Rishey.
