OBITUARY

Osmund Andrea Christianson was born at Kopervik, Avelsnes parish, in Norway, Sept. 11, 1849, and died at his home in Jewell Thursday, March 11, 1915, aged 65 years and 6 months. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Lars Christianson, wo was a pilot of considerable renown in Norway, and deceased himself sailed the sea for 19 years.

He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church in Kopervik, and was a faithful member of Bethesda Lutheran church in Jewell since 1906.

On July 28, 1874 he was married to Miss Anna Gurina Tonneson, of Stavanger, Norway. He resided in Stavanger nine years, and in 1884 came to America, settling first at Norway, in Benton county, Iowa. He then moved to Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and then came to Jewell, in 1894, where he lived until his death.

He is survived by his wife and ten children, Oscar S. of Stanhope, Sigurd B. of Granville, Iowa, Arthur of Jewell, Lewis of Fort Dodge, Elmer of Des Moines, Tony of Jewell, Amanda M. (Mrs. W. F. Templer) of Jewell, Andrea (Mrs. J. S. Davis) of Stanhope, Harold O. and Margaret both of Jewell. The children were all here at the burial services Saturday. Two children have died, Annie A. at the age of 8 years and Carl at the age of 20. He is also survived by 22 grandchildren.

Funeral services were held last Saturday at 1:30 from the home and at 2:00 o'clock at Bethesda church conducted by the pastor, Rev. Norstad. The funeral services were attended by a large crowd of friends and neighbors and floral offerings were many and beautiful. The six older sons acted as pall bearers, and a quartet composed of E. W. Knudson, S. L. Ostrem, Mrs. B. F. Knudson and Miss Emma Knudson sang.

The Record joins with the many friends in extending deep sympathy to the bereaved wife and family in their hour of sorrow.
