He was united in marriage to Ida Marie “Abbie” Freed until her passing in 1979. On June 5, 1996, he married Mona (Wilson) Moore at the Little Brown Church. They made their home in Union, Iowa and later at Oak Estates in Conrad until her passing December of 2015.
Victor lived in rural Grundy County the majority of his life, including five years in Steamboat Rock. He was a beloved and devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was a lifelong farmer, dedicated to working the land, growing soybeans, corn and his own blend of popcorn. He also enjoyed raising cattle and watching tractor sales. He was a member of Farm Bureau, the Eldora Bowling League, the Ivester Church of the Brethren and the Whitten Community Church. As a skilled woodworker, Victor loved making handmade gifts for everyone and even made the cross at the front of the Whitten Community Church. In his free time, he enjoyed vegetable gardening, music, polka dancing and playing cards (500 and Pepper) especially at family gatherings.
Left to cherish his memory are his children: Vickii (Jerry) Ward, Jan Williams, Garry (Melinda) Schwarck and Joelle Blondel (exchange student from France); grandchildren: Matthew Ward, Michael (Shelley) Ward, Levi (Jill) Schwarck and Abbie (Michael) Schaa; great-grandchildren: Parker, Wesley, Lily, Ethan, Hailey and Jaycee; his brother Paul (Catherine) Schwarck; sisters-in-law: Evelyn Schwarck, Joan Schwarck, Sheri Freed, and many nieces and nephews.
