Marian Ruth Chaddock, 99, of Burlington, died Sunday, Dec. 22, 2024, at the Klein Center in West Burlington. Born March 10, 1925, in Waukegan, Ill., she was the daughter of Gustaf Arnold and Emma Elizabeth Lind Erickson. On Sept. 20, 1958, she married E.O. Chaddock Jr. in Trinity Lutheran Church in Waukegan, Ill. He preceded her in death on Feb. 21, 2002.
She started her nursing education at the Great Lakes Naval Academy in Illinois and later graduated from Augustana College in Rock Island, Ill. She practiced nursing until her children were born and then took some time off to raise them. Eventually she returned to nursing, working at Fort Madison Nursing Care Center for 15 years.
She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church, the Altar Guild, serving condolence luncheons, Miriam Circle and the WELCA. Marian enjoyed working outside around the house, and taking her dog for golf cart rides. Marian never met a stranger, she enjoyed visiting with her friends and neighbors as well as playing for a friendly game of cards. She loved sports. When she was not playing on the city bowling league, she was cheering on the Cubs.
Survivors include two sons, Rob (Darla) Chaddock of Yarmouth and Jim Chaddock of Burlington; daughter, Jan (Scott) Creighton of Burlington; grandson, Chase (Stephanie) Klenk; granddaughter, Emily Chaddock; and one great-grandson, Russell Klenk.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents.
Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory.
Family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m., Friday, Jan. 3, 2025, at Bethany Lutheran Church, 2515 Madison Ave. Burlington.
The memorial service for Mrs. Chaddock will be 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 3, 2025, at Bethany Lutheran Church with Pastor Misha McFarland-Pollock officiating. A time of food and fellowship will be held at the church immediately following the service. Private family burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
A memorial has been established for Bethany Lutheran Church.
