This is just a followup regarding original query and information shared by Ken Johnson. I have verified all of the information Ken offered regarding the Thompson (Thomss) family from Edena, Mecklenburg-Schwerin. With regards to Elizabeth's brother John Christian Thompson, he volunteered with the Iowa 7th Cavalry in 1864 and was discharged with disability in 1865. He resided in Nebraska and by 1900 was living with his brother Charles in St. Louis, Missouri where they jointly owned a restaurant. Charles was murdered in a robbery in 1901. John spent his last few years at the National Veterans Home in Leavenworth KS and passed away there in 1902. John's wife, Charlotte Vogel, passed away around 1866 in Nebraska. They were married 7 Aug 1855. Their daughter, Charlotte, (1857-1908) married John Sufficool from Hazelton, Iowa. Still researching their sons, Adolph and Otto. John & Elizabeth's father, Christian Thoms/Thomsen passed prior to John's marriage in 1855. He was born 1797. I have not found any gravesite for him but believe he died in Volga area.
