Have you seen the 1840 Federal Census image for Dubuque Co. for the John Carr household, and compared it to the 1850 Federal Census image of District 7 Dubuque Co., the John and Elizabeth Carr household ?

Of special note on the 1850 census is that Elizabeth and John H. Carr show their birthplace as Pennsylvania. Also shown as a member of the household is Granville Roser/Rosier whose birthplace is shown as Pennsylvania.

If you make the assumption that the two males shown on the 1840 cencus as between 20 - 30 years of age were boarders or hired hands, and that the male and female shown as aged between 10 - 15 years are grown and out of the household in 1850, then the remaining household members ages seem to match well between the two cencus.

Jeremiah Roser/Rosier may be the male shown as between 10 - 15 years on the 1840 cencus, and out of the household in 1850.

If the assumptions are correct then Elizabeth is the mother of Jeremiah.

It may be a stretch but it seems to be a start.
