of the Ballykilcline Society has passed on, via the ROSCOMMON-L, information great for any researcher of the Malary surname, since researching in Ireland is difficult because most of the records burned during one of their wars. Mary has given permission to post this info. on the Clayton co. website. It references the 1882 biography of Patrick Malary, Highland twp.

The official list of evictees from Ballykilcline (dated 1847) includes this family:John Mullera (age 35), his wife Sarah (30) and children Francis (6), James (4), John (8), Patrick (12), Thomas (10), and brother Pat (25).
It appears that your subject is the brother Pat.
There also was a couple -- Pat Mullera (30) and Catherine Mullera (30). Presume they were husband and wife. Since your subject's wife's name was Mary Welch, he is more likely the Pat who was 25 years old at the time of the evictions.Are there signs of any other Mulleras in Clayton County -- siblings or descendants?
Some of this extended Mullera family spent years in Rutland, Vermont.

Scally's book, 'The End of Hidden Ireland'. It also was part of a Discovery Channel program that premiered in September 2003, about the Irish Famine. The Society puts out a newsletter twice a year, has compiled a CD of
Strokestown-area records at cost for members, and holds an annual Reunion (twice so far in and around Strokestown). We have an active research committee as well. The organization is open to anyone who is interested in fostering the
family and local history of that part of Roscommon. Members come from the U.S.,
Canada, Ireland, and England.
