MONONA: Funeral services for Edward L. Hupfer, 85, were held Tuesday, Oct. 22, from the Schultz funeral home at 1:45 to the Pilgrim Evangelical United Brethren church at 2 p.m., with the Rev. A. W. Ebert officiating. Burial was in the City cemetery.
Mr. Hupfer, the son of Frank and Elizabeth Heins Hupfer, was born Jan. 31, 1870, in Monona township and died at the Postville hospital Saturday, Oct. 22, after an illness of seven months.
On May 24, 1895, he was married to Clara M. Schmidt of Monona. The couple engaged in farming for many years until retiring to Monona. Mr. Hupfer then worked on the railroad and later operated a blacksmith shop.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Elmer (Mabel) Franck of Poynette, Wis.; Mrs. George (Marie) Baade of Monona; three sons, Herb of McGregor; Vern and Raymond of Monona; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his wife in 1928, his parents, six brothers and two sisters.
He was a member of the Evangelical United Brethren church and was a member of Clayton Lodge No. 70 A.F. and A.M.
